The afternoon in Avize led us into the family world of Michel Gonet. Behind the personal welcome and Diane Gonet’s passion was an enduring curiosity about terroir: we were not looking for a single expression of Chardonnay, but for the distinct voice of three places.

Vindey’s smoky tension, the broader generosity of Montgueux and the chalky, crystalline precision of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger were clearly distinct, yet the sequence remained coherent. The Gonet style connected them like a common thread.
