Returning to Charles Heidsieck felt especially exciting. We had met Émilien Erard before, but this time he shared his clear, considered vision for the maison in his role as Chef de Cave.

From harvest to finished wine

Five 2025 vins clairs, still awaiting their first racking, expressed the characters of Chouilly, Cramant, Aÿ, Verneuil and Cuchery. The aromatic lift of Chardonnay, the poise of Pinot Noir and the texture of Meunier each spoke in a distinct voice even at this early stage.

  • 2025 vins clairs · Chouilly, Cramant, Aÿ, Verneuil and Cuchery
  • Rosé Réserve · bright, expressive and lifted
  • Brut Millésimé 2018 and Rosé Millésimé 2018
  • Coteaux Champenois Ambonnay Rouge 2022
A rare moment when the first note of a harvest and the maison’s finished sentence can be heard in the same tasting.

After the finished champagnes, Ambonnay Rouge 2022 offered one more perspective on terroir. A morning filled with learning, precise questions and generous conversation.
